This archived announcement introduced Formula Swiss organic CBD oils in organic hemp seed oil.
Hemp seed oil is the nutty, flavourful oil that comes from the raw seeds of the hemp plant. Hemp seed oil contains omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and is used in food and cosmetic formulations. It should not be confused with protein-rich hemp seeds or hemp protein powder: pressing the oil separates it from the seed components that supply protein.
Hemp seed oil has been studied for particular uses, but findings about an ingredient should not be treated as proof of every benefit claimed for a finished CBD product. A 2005 study compared dietary hemp seed oil with olive oil in a 20-week randomised, single-blind crossover trial in people with atopic dermatitis, reporting improvements in skin dryness and itchiness after the hemp seed oil intervention. That study does not establish hormonal balance, reduced cholesterol or general skin regeneration for this CBD product line. Our blog provides more background on CBD oil and its carrier oils.
At launch, we described the hemp seed oil range as having a stronger taste and aroma than our olive oil range. Customers who found the olive oil products strongly flavoured were advised that the hemp seed oil versions had an even more pronounced taste.
The launch introduced blue labels and product boxes, with concentrations of 3% (300 mg), 5% (500 mg), 10% (1,000 mg), 15% (1,500 mg) and 20% (2,000 mg). The announcement also described a change in the pet product line from olive oil to hemp seed oil. These are the details of the historical launch, rather than a statement of today’s range or stock.
We described organic hemp seed oil as more expensive to produce than organic olive oil, but announced the same introductory prices as the olive oil range to encourage customers to try the new products.
